Villa Casale della Quercia is situated in Santa Maria la Stella (Acireale), a small village on the slopes of Mount Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano, recently added to UNESCO's World Heritage list. The Villa recreates a perfect and peaceful Oasi with its Private saltwater Swimming-Pool of 18x5mt, surrounded by a charming garden and paved terraces, with a superb outlook over the surrounding countryside and the Mount Etna and far away from hustle in the city. It incorporates a rare and privileged position, great views and beautiful interiors.
The Villa was built at the beginning of the 19th Century and has been recently restored keeping its unique Sicilian style: singular smooth lava stone features and only local material such as "Terracotta". It is surrounded by a private garden of 4000 square meters planted with Mediterranean trees and bushes like citrus, olives and palms trees.
Inside, the villa is bright and spacious, with an accurate and well studied mix of modern design and antique furnishing.
The ground floor comprises a spacious open plan living room with fireplace, created in the most typical room of the villa with its three lava tanks where wine was produced; a modern fully-equipped kitchen and a comfortable complete bathroom. This floor is surrounded by a system of wide terraces furnished with sofas, tables and a water well, overlooking the garden and the landscape.
The first floor can be accessed even by an external staircase which lead to an intimate balcony which has the highest view of the house to the seacoast. This floor consists of a luxurious master bedroom with en-suite bathroom (with hydromassage and shower) and an anteroom with the access to the two double bedrooms and a complete bathroom.
The garden is beautifully kept and verdant, with shaded areas, including a porch with a barbecue area and a Tavern composed by kitchen with wood oven, fireplace, wine cellar and a WC.
The house also includes a laundry room and a bathroom near the pool.

What our guests say about us:
Humaira - United Kingdom
A beautiful villa set in the countryside with fabulous views of Mount Etna. An absolutely wonderful large swimming pool surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and there is utmost privacy in the location. Very well equipped villa for our needs with 2 young children, and a wonderful working kitchen. The villa has great character inside and has been sympathetically renovated. A great location for local amenities and for exploring the island. Communication with the SunTrip Sicily team was excellent, and they arranged car hire and airport transfers for us too. Thankyou.

We had a lovely stay at this wonderful villa. Kitchen is very well equipped, the gardens are absolutely immaculate and the swimming pool is wonderful. We were able to get help when we needed and any questions were responded to promptly. Thank you for accomodating us so nicely.

We had a lovely stay here. As mentioned in other reviews, the pictures do not reflect the reality. We were welcomed with basket full of nice products. Where to start. The garden is huge and well maintained. There growing all kind of fruit trees and there are lovely flowers growing. Poweroutlets are available near the palmtree’s to charge your mobile. Every early morning the gardner comes to clean the pool and maintain the garden. The swimmingpool is huge and deep enough to dive in. Water has a good temperature and not too salty. Only point of criticism is that there is no portable umbrella for some extra shade. There is an additional bathroom including shower near the pool which is very convenient. The main house is old but very well maintained. We experienced some problems with the airconditioning and a technician came the next day. The entire airco system (outside units) were replaced during our stay, resulting in cool bedrooms. In the meanwhile we received ventilators. We had direct contact with the owner of the property regarding this AC issue. Very friendly and helpful lady with a passion for this villa. Beds are comfortable. Master bedroom is huge with high ceilings. This bedroom is located near a road. It’s literally 20 cm from the road. But the road is not that busy and it didn’t disturb us. Probably also because the walls are very thick. Other 2 bedrooms have ceilings with an angle. For very tall (Dutch) people, it’s not possible to stand up straight on one side of these rooms. The rooms have a lot of closet space. Halfway the week we received housekeeping service which was pleasant surprise. The property itself is so big that we didn’t use all areas. We didn’t use the pizza and barbecue area at all, because the main house was already sufficient for us. A great start of the day is having coffee on the second terrace next to the kitchen with a view on the Etna. Close to the villa is also the center of this little town, walking distance. We had great cappuccinos and croissants one morning at Bar Costantino. Definitely worth a visit. A big Supermarket is also on walking distance. Contact with the agency went very well. Vanna always replied within 1 hour. She was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing holiday. Best features are: huge garden, salt water pool and fully airconditioned. Thanks! Bob

This Villa is better that it appears in the photos. Excellent A/C, spotlessly clean. Lots of money has been spent on restoring this Villa/ Wine makers house, with interesting details and high quality finishes throughout. Beds are comfortable and excellent quality. Bathrooms work well, spotless and modern. Kitchen is high quality, better than photos and has every facility. Be aware there are lots of steps as the site is on a slope, so possibly not for the elderly or very young children. The grounds are beautiful, probably >0.5 hectare and well maintained and expertly landscaped. High quality pool and excellent outdoor kitchen and dining room. For a northern European, the challenge is the access. Like lots of Sicily, the roads do not support the style of driving and density of traffic. A car is required for every trip, and driving is not ideal in the urban area. Some excellent restaurants in Acireale, only a 10 minute, exhilarating drive away. Our hosts were charming and could not have been more helpful.
