Pistachio Festival in Bronte
An event that you really shouldn’t miss is the Pistachio festival, which will takes place on the end of September and the first part of October in the world-famous capital of pistachios, Bronte in the province of Catania,
The pistachio is a gastronomic jewel of Bronte: its nuts, are widely considered to be amongst the best in the world and they’re protected by a DOP label. The festival is fully devoted to this tasty fruit and its unlimited food applications: you can enjoy the taste of ice-cream, cakes, pasta, arancini, pastries and discover much more recipes to delight this legacy of the Arabic domination of Sicily.
The Pistachio festival will be also enlivened by several side events, such as exhibitions, like “Pistart” an area completely dedicated to artists from Bronte, conferences and showing about the hand-made harvest of the pistachio nut that attract tourists from all over the world.
For the occasion, there are free guided tours through the historic center of Bronte during which you can visit the Church of Annunziata, built in the 1500s with beautiful paintings and a unique lava-stone window inside. The Capizzi Gallery has an impressive library left by the Jesuits who used to live in this 18th century building, before being forced to flee. There is a nice art gallery to enjoy.
