How to reach Sicily by Plane?

Sicily is served by six airports. Sicilian airports are connected by direct flights to and from the major Italian and European cities, and also serve as a stopover for flights arriving from airports places around the Mediterranean.

The main airports are Catania Fontanarossa (Vincenzo Bellini) CTA and Palermo Punta Raisi (Falcone e Borsellino) PMO that are served by flag-carrier and low-cost airlines, while Trapani Birgi (Vincenzo Florio) TPS and Comiso CIY are specialised in low-cost European flights.

CATANIA

Catania Fontanarossa airport (CTA), also known as Vincenzo Bellini, is just three miles from downtown Catania. The airport is suitable located close to the A19 motorway which links Catania with Palermo and the middle of Sicily, and close to the A18 motorway which links Catania with Taormina and Messina, while the E45 route runs to Syracuse in the south of the Island.

PALERMO

Palermo Falcone e Borsellino airport (PMO), also known as Punta Raisi, is located 19 miles west of the city centre. To reach Palermo airport from Catania take the A18 and then the A19 motorway in the direction of Palermo and exit at “Puntaraisi – Aeroporto Falcone Borsellino”.

Trapani Birgi airport (TPS) is halfway between Trapani and Marsala, about 10 miles from each, this Airport is classified as a city-airport. It can be easily reached by several points of interest. The airport is well connected to Catania through the A29 and the A19 highway.
