Description

This town has two castles: the first stands on a hilltop near the church of the Holy Crocifix which goes back to 1484. The second is near the sea, on the beach of San Marco from whence it gets its name.

"SunTripSicily" tip: live up the exciting Saint Philip feast held every year in May. The statue of the saint is carried down a steep hill by the worshippers in a very fast run from the Church of the Holy Crucifix to the Cathedral, in Sicilian dialect is called "A calata".
